Beam and Shackle
3 Beam: Cut a strip of wood about 3/8” x ¼” and about 5” long. Carve or sand front edges to give an aged look to the wood. Stain a dark colour- I used walnut stain in several applications. Let dry.
4. Wrap each strip of textured Fimo around beam sealing seam at the back.
5. Lightly dust back of shackle strip with cornstarch ( to prevent sticking during baking) and wrap around piece of ½” dowel or foil neck form. Bend each end of strip out to form a flange end. It should look like a ‘c’-clamp. Cut each end to leave about ½” length. Cut or poke a 1/8” hole in each flange separately, close enough to the end so that your chain link or jump ring will be able to loop through.
6. Bake the beam and shackle leaving the dowel or form in place to maintain round opening of shackle. Ends of shackle should separate before and after baking because of the cornstarch. This will allow shackle to open and slide around the neck.
